U of Wisconsin Madison Collision of Ideas - Gay Marriage

Across Wisconsin, there is a battle raging which will find its focus in the polls. On the ballot is a referedum which says to vote yes is to write a state constitutional amendment which defines marriage as only between a man and woman. To vote no, is to refuse this special constitutional amendement. And the battle is raging across the state and across the campus. In this liberal place, any yes vote is not looked upon in a good light and those of us who consider yes to be the only answer can experience intimidation. Not me, I am too old to be buffaloed under by any so called peer pressure. But it is very real for students.

The most frightening thing that I have learned about this whole issue is that the No people including our major just believe it is a matter of time that gay marriage will happen. The mayor has said publically - just let it get voter into law, you (young people) will just repeal that law in ten years.
