Thursday a busy day with Medical and Law group
Monday thru Wednesday, Rich was in St. Louis doing training for Urbana and being a Bible study leader. We are in the book of Ephesians. It was really great.
Thursday started at 6:30am at a local church making coffee with Med students. We were going to outreach in love by giving first and second year students a free cup of coffee and a donut on their way to class. We were asked why we were doing this on several occasions. We just said that it is a 'have a nice day, God bless you cup of coffee." Many of the students really thanked us.
At 10AM our guest from Christian Legal Society met with all the local campus evangelical religious leaders to talk about our Big Campus Issue and our challenges with the University and recognition of our groups. It was a very good discussion and we all came away understanding the seriousness of the issue before us.
At 12PM, Dr. Jim Sutherard, one of the discoverers of the UW solution (fluid that keeps transplant organs alive) came to speak at the Med school. He shared the history of the discovery along with his story of faith.
At 2 - 5, Rich met with CLS and InterVaristy at the headquarters to discuss partnership issues.
At 5:30pm, our Christian Legal Society leadership team and CLS nationals went out to eat together. It was a great time of conversation and the wedding of faith and the practice of Law.
At 7:00pm, our CLS group meet and we highlighted our CLS national guests. David Nammo, who works with student groups (CLS has over 160 Law student groups in US law schools) shared about being a Christian lawyer. Greg Baylor, the CLS lead attorney for religious rights shared about the challenges Christian groups are facing around the country. Our evening ended with ice cream and conversation.
All in all, a very busy day. Most days are not like this, but some are when God opens doors.
